BREASTFEEDING SAVVY CONSULTANTS CLINIC

Breastfeeding Savvy (BFS) is a breastfeeding clinic, emulating a homelike setting, located at 58 Clifton Country Road, Clifton Park, NY, 12065, Suite 106. Our breastfeeding clinic was created to support the postpartum period and optimize the breastfeeding/ pumping dyads journey.

Our mission is to provide empathetic and evidenced based support to families in the community. To ensure the physical and mental wellbeing of both the breastfeeding/pumping patients as well as the safety of the neonate.

We follow AAP guidelines as well as ABM protocols. We believe it is essential to provide breastfeeding/pumping education and support to the entire family (partners, siblings, grandparents etc.) to ensure the most enjoyable and safe feeding journey obtainable.

We devise an individual feeding plan based on a mothers breastfeeding goal, while making priority that this goal is safe and conducive to infants physiological and psychological development.

We work closely with other health care professionals such as fellow lactation consultants, nurse practitioners, family practitioners, pediatricians, midwives, obstetricians and pediatric dentists to ensure optimal outcomes.

We offer the postpartum community a safe haven for breastfeeding/chest feeding mothers to gather and connect with one another via support groups. We also offer breastfeeding classes antenatally as well as CPR classes.

Patient/Family consultation at breastfeeding savvy

  • An initial consultation typically takes 2-2.5 hours.

  • We process conception, pregnancy, delivery, hospital stay and finally the breastfeeding journey.

  • This is our standard process because we have found many times woman cannot move on to the breastfeeding journey without debriefing/celebrating the prior events.

  • We focus on physical/ mental health and wellness of the postpartum mom as well as ensure the health and the safety of the neonate.

  • A follow up typically takes 1-2 hours and we process the current plan and adjust based on neonate clinical findings and mothers physical/mental health.

  • We have a hospital grade scale to calculate milk transfer at the breast.

  • We aim to book consults opposite of pediatric weight checks.

Our consultants Jenelle Nemeth, Barbara Donnelly and Kathleen Burke are seasoned consultants and have over 65 years of hospital experience collectively.

Breast-feeding is natural. It isn’t always natural like breathing (which is automatic), but rather like walking (which needs to be learned)” quoted from La Leche League
